The UCLG Co-President and Mayor of Guangzhou, Chen Jianhua, will host the Guangzhou Award Ceremony on the occasion of the Guangzhou International Urban Innovation Conference, organized in conjunction with the 2014 China International Friendship Cities Conference, and in the framework of the UCLG World Council meetings.
Launched in 2012 by UCLG, Metropolis and the City of Guangzhou, the Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation will celebrate the 2nd Guangzhou Award Ceremony on 28 November.
Under the theme of “My City, My Dream”, the event will include key activities such as interviews with mayors from major cities across the world and the World Urban Innovation exhibition. As many as 600 distinguished guests from home and abroad are expected to attend these events.
The Guangzhou Award will recognize and grant awards to the most outstanding innovative urban projects and practices in the public sector. The Mayor of Guangzhou, jointly with the President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), would like to extend a warm invitation to all UCLG members able to participate in this gathering. The Ceremony will be a good opportunity for city leaders to exchange knowledge and to explore urban practices that could advance the livelihoods of their citizens.
NOTE: All UCLG and Metropolis members can attend the event free of charge. Please bear in mind that on the registration form you should indicate that you are participating as a member of UCLG/Metropolis to be exempt from paying the registration fee.
