In October 2016, the United Nations will convene the UN Conference on Housing and   Sustainable   Urban Development  (Habitat III) in   Quito, Ecuador.  The Habitat III Conference will renew the global commitment to, and set the New Urban Agenda for sustainable urban development for the next 20 years. As part of preparations for the Habitat III Conference, Habitat has opened up a series of Urban Dialogues (online debates) over the month of July.

These on-line debates are organized around six areas of debates identified officially as part of the overall structure of the “New Urban Agenda”: Social Cohesion & Equity, Urban Frameworks, Spatial Development, Urban Economy, Urban Ecology & Environment and Urban Housing & Basic Services.

The Urban Dialogues will result in a report that will be published on the website, distributed to all Member States and stakeholders and will constitute another piece of the background information for the Policy Units work.

UCLG members, committees and working groups are encouraged to take part to demonstrate their willingness and ability to engage in the process, and to take advantage of this opportunity to put Local and regional governments concerns and priorities on the table.

Share yours ideas, solutions, and knowledge!

The debates close on 31 July.
