Local Governance - 14/07/2014
The UCLG Executive Bureau took place on 19th June in Liverpool, United Kingdom, in conjunction with the BT World Local Leaders Summit. Over 250 participants from 48 countries participated in the meeting, which included policy dialogues on Public Space, Localization of the Post-2015 Agenda, Governance and Growth and Equality. (+)
Take part in the Sasakawa Award for Disaster Risk Reduction
Announcements
The Sasakawa Award for Disaster Risk Reduction is now open for applications until the 31st October 2014. The award aims to recognise communities, individuals, local and national governments, civil society and private sector organizations, under the theme "Shaping the Future". (+)
Planning and Public Spaces Durban

UCLG held its first Policy Debate session on 17th June 2014, dedicated to a crosscutting theme of UCLG's global agenda: Planning and Public Spaces. Participants joined this meeting to analyse two dimensions of the urban agenda. (+)
First EU Policy Forum on Development
Announcements
Following a meeting of the Task Team (made up of representatives of UCLG Africa, UCLG MEWA, FLACMA, Platform and the UCLG World Secretariat) on the 24th of June, the EU Policy Forum on Development (PFD) in the Latin America and the Caribbean region was held in Lima, Peru, on 25-26th of June. (+)

The Executive Bureau that took place from 17th to 19th June in Liverpool, agreed to open a call encouraging candidatures from the Latin American region. Due to the local elections that took place in Ecuador, there is a vacancy in the UCLG Presidency. (+)
