The United Nations Human Settlement Programme (UN-Habitat) will celebrate the 7th session of the World Urban Forum in the Colombian city of Medellín on 5-11 April under the overall theme “Urban Equity in Development – Cities for Life”. This global event will include a number of important sessions for the local and regional agenda. (+)
Gender equality
Announcements
As part of the OWG 8 session in New-York this week, Member States, Major Groups and stakeholders will discuss the issue of equality, in particular gender equality and women empowerment. UCLG, building on its longstanding work on the topic and convinced that a successful Post 2015 agenda needs acknowledging these issues. (+)

Barcelona FAD award 2014
Announcements
The period for entering candidatures for the City to City Barcelona FAD Award 2014 is now open until the 14th of March. The award, which has the support of Barcelona City Hall, is organised and granted by the FAD (Fostering Arts and Design). Its objective is to recognise experiences that occur, are undergone or are generated in cities in order to provide responses that will bring a transforming and positive effect to that city and its citizens. UCLG announces the opening of the “International Award UCLG - Mexico City - Culture 21”. The objective of the Award, promoted by Mexico City and the Culture Committee, is to recognize leading cities and people that have distinguished themselves through their contribution to culture as a dimension of sustainable development.
