Regions implementing the Urban Agenda in the post-COVID-19: building a Green Aftermath

Side-event on Regions & Urban Agenda: a Green Aftermath
20 October 2020. Virtual

The COVID-19 pandemic adds pressure to the urgent need to develop and establish pathways to greater resilience and a green future. The New Urban Agenda, the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Paris Agreement, and other global agreements must be accelerated and considered the roadmap for recovery.

In this regard, the UCLG Forum of Regions, under the presidency of the Consortium of Provincial Autonomous Governments of Ecuador (CONGOPE), and in collaboration with the member government of Catalonia, is organizing the online side-event ‘Regions implementing the Urban Agenda in the post-COVID-19: building a Green Aftermath’, on October 20, 2020, 15h30 – 17h30 CEST.

As part of the European Week of Regions and Cities, during the green week, European and global regional governments will discuss the key challenges and methodologies to achieve advanced territories, implementing the New Urban Agenda in the post-COVID-19.

Regional governments are strategically positioned to adopt and implement integrated territorial approaches, which are fundamental for a holistic realization of the New Urban Agenda. Beyond city boundaries, and especially in face of the COVID-19 pandemic, we must understand and address urban-rural linkages, targeting territorial inequalities and towards lasting resilience to the present and future crises.

The event will have simultaneous interpretation into English, French and Spanish.

Registration is required in the following link.
