The Gipuzkoa Provincial Council is organizing the Etorkizuna Eraikiz “Open minded governance for future” Congress, which will take place on 18-19 February in Donostia-San Sebastián. Open Governance and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is a pairing that brings together the concepts and challenges of the future. Challenges and concepts that need to be dealt with by administrations and society and that need to be brought to the forefront in order to be tackled now and continue building the best future for the citizens.
The Congress includes intense days in which, with leading international experts andparticipants will reflect on different areas of good governance as well as the new governance models that are being promoted by different Basque and international public administrations. Further, they will learn about experiences in the Basque region and best practices at an international level.
The UCLG Forum of Regions and the fourth meeting of the Community of Practice on Transparency and Open Government of UCLG, "Collaborative Governance for Sustainable Development Objectives", will be held on Tuesday 19 February as part of this congress. The aim of these meetings is to create a space for learning and dialogue between the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, the OGP (Open Government Partnership) and representatives from Latin America such as the Province of Santa Fe, CONGOPE (Consortium of Provincial Autonomous Governments of Ecuador) and Scotland to think about new experiences and collaborations for the future.
Collaborative Governance, Institutional Ethics, Planning, Evaluation and Accountability, Transparency, Participation, Localising the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)... The objective of the congress is to generate shared knowledge that will help the Provincial Administration towards efficient management in order to obtain results that will translate into positive social and political changes for Gipuzkoan society. We must jointly address the uncertainty of modern societies in order to build a better sustainable future for all.
