An International summit of Mayors for the Climate will be held on July 1st and 2nd in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, a joint initiative meant to be a “COP of cities” in Africa.

Anne Hidalgo, co–president of UCLG, Mayor of Paris, President of the International Association of Francophone Mayors and Robert Beugré Mambé, Secretary General of the International Association of Francophone Mayors and Vice President for Africa of the C40, will hold an international summit of Mayors for climate on July 1 and 2, a joint initiative with the AIMF, meant to be a “COP of cities” in Africa.

This event in an hybrid format will convene Mayors from all over the world in Abidjan, relying on the support of networks of local elected officials active in the fight against global warming and the ecological transition of cities, in partnership with our Town Hall partner, Climate Chance. It will gather the cities of the AIMF, which the General Assembly will precede the event.

The meeting will focus on reaffirming cities’ commitment to mitigate climate change and their active involvement, especially in Africa in view of the celebration of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 27) to the UNFCCC which will take place in Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt, 7-18 November 2022.This event in an hybrid format will convene Mayors from all over the world in Abidjan, relying on the support of networks of local elected officials active in the fight against global warming and the ecological transition of cities, in partnership with our Town Hall partner, Climate Chance.
