Prominent world players will speak at the World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders

Numerous Mayors and Presidents of regions, representatives of the most important international institutions, international partners of UCLG and other major stakeholders of civil society have been invited to speak on the occasion of the World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders - 3rd Congress of United Cities and Local Governments that will be held in Mexico City from 17 to 20 November 2010.

Representatives from more than 50 countries have already confirmed their participation. More than 3,000 delegates and 100 high-level speakers are expected at the Summit.

Among the local and regional leaders who have already accepted the invitation of the Mayor of Mexico and of UCLG, are to be found: the Mayors of Paris, Johannesburg, Guangzhou, Istanbul, Quito, Los Angeles, Mumbai, Lisboa, Madrid, Harare, Brazzaville, Buenos Aires, Rabat, San José de Costa Rica, Montréal, Stuttgart, Almere, Rosario, Lyon, Nantes, Florence, Getafe, Nanterre; the Presidents of the Regions of Ile-de-France, Pays de la Loire (France), Taza Al Hoceima Taounate (Morocco) and the representatives from cities and regions from around the world.

The main international institutions as well as UCLG’s principal partners will also be represented: World Bank, UN Habitat, Cities Alliance, UNESCO, OECD, regional banks, etc., as well as the private and academic sectors.
