On 20-21 February, the city of Bilbao will host the international conference SUM Bilbao 2019, under the slogan: Moving the cities of the 21st century. This event was created with the aim of leading a global reflection on the future of mobility and its impact on the achievement of Sustainable Development Objectives (SDGs) in our cities.
During two days, participants and speakers will debate on strategic aspects for the construction and consolidation of sustainable urban mobility systems, around three (3) thematic axes: public policies, technology and innovation and opportunities for development. UCLG through its Community of Practice on Mobility, co-chaired by the cities of Strasbourg and Jakarta, will be present as partner of the event, contributing and stimulating debates from the local perspective.
The Community of Practice is an initiative launched in 2018, whose objective is to enrich our work, alliances and political positions in the field of mobility. This Community of Practice is also supported by a Global Strategic Alliance between UCLG and the International Public Transport Association (UITP) to advance the development of this critical policy agenda, acting with a powerful global voice, as well as an innovative platform for common urban action and building a powerful Mobility Champions Community.
