UCLG delegation strengthening links with US mayors

United States Conference of Mayors' 83rd Winter Meeting

The United States Conference of Mayors' 83rd Winter Meeting will take place on 21-23 January 2015 in Washington, D.C. A UCLG delegation led by Richard Kemp, Councillor for Liverpool (United Kingdom) and Deputy Chair of the European & International Board of the Local Government Association (LGA), Berry Vrbanovic, Mayor of Kitchener (Canada) and President Emeritus of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM), and Josep Roig, UCLG Secretary General, is in Washington this week to attend the meetings.

The United States Conference of Mayors' 83rd Winter Meeting is a semi-annual gathering of mayors. The three-day event will include plenary sessions, committee meetings, task force meetings and social events. UCLG will attend the gathering, which is expected to see the participation of over 300 U.S. mayors, and will also visit its longstanding member, the National League of Cities, based in Washington.

The aim of this visit is to build closer links with American mayors and ensure greater participation by local elected leaders from the U.S. internationally.
