UCLG at first intersession meeting on Climate Change COP17 negociations

Pursuant to the Cancun agreements adopted last December 2010, Parties are gathering in UN offices in Bangkok from 3 to 8 April.

UCLG is ensureing that local authorities voice and participation in this round of negotiation that has an unusual format as starting by 3 days of specific workshops on:

  • Assumptions and conditions related to the attainment of quantified economy-wide emission reduction targets by developed country Parties,
  • Nationally appropriate mitigation actions submitted by developing country Parties, underlying assumptions, and any support needed for implementation of these actions
  • Technology mechanism (technology executive committee and climate technology center and network)

The Kyoto Protocol and Long term cooperative action meetings will then take place and address the results of the previous workshops until Friday 8th.
