Putting into practice the new Learning Module 2 on Territorial Planning to achieve the SDGs in Santiago de Chile!
UCLG participated actively in the summer school organized by the Chilean Local Government Association (AChM) which took place from the 21th to 25 January in Santiago de Chile.  The event gathered 45 mayors and councilors for a whole week to work together on SDG localization.  The format was developed in partnership with CEPAL (Economic Commission for Latin America), UNDP Chile, FLACMA, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) and UCLG. The Final Report of the Venice 2030-Financing the SDGs has just been released!
The Final Report of the meeting "Venice City Solutions 2030 - Financing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at Local Level held on 16 and 17 November 2018 in Venice, has just been published. The document gathers and showcases the conclusions and recommendations of participants representing local and regional authorities, as well as national governments, United Nations agencies and development banks who participated in this event. The objective was to identify on-going experiences, collect data and propose solutions to the issue of financing the implementation of the SDGs at the local level. (+)
The II World Forum of Local Governments showcases local policies committed to Agenda 2030
The II World Forum of Local Governments, that took place in Seville from January 24 to 26, is an international meeting that gathers local governments’ representatives from around the World to debate and analyse the challenges that cities face. (+)
Etorkizuna Eraikiz. Open minded governance for future

The Gipuzkoa Provincial Council is organizing the Etorkizuna Eraikiz “Open minded governance for future” Congress, which will take place on 18-19 February in Donostia-San Sebastián. Open Governance and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is a pairing that brings together the concepts and challenges of the future. Challenges and concepts that need to be dealt with by administrations and society and that need to be brought to the forefront in order to be tackled now and continue building the best future for the citizens. Rethinking intermediary cities to #ThinkEurope
Intermediary Cities - 24/01/2019
Responding to the challenges facing Europe through territorial cohesion, and the key role of intermediary cities in achieving this cohesion were the main themes throughout the three days of the "Think Europe: Commitment 2030" summit held in Soria, which presented an opportunity to reflect on the necessary cooperation between spheres of government at European level to achieve territorial cohesion. UCLG and UNICEF meet to strengthen future collaboration
partnership, Youth - 22/01/2019
A delegation of UNICEF visited UCLG World Secretariat in Barcelona on January 14-15, 2019, to discuss a strategic partnership based on the principle of leaving no child, nowhere, behind. With the participation of Metropolis, the UCLG Commissions of Social inclusion, Participatory democracy and Human rights (CISDP) and of Culture 21, and the Educating Cities network, the organizations exchanged about local governments’ role in protecting the rights of children, and in particular the ones on the move. The partnership should support local governments in the development of child-sensitive policies, youth and children participation in local decision-making, and the improvement of local data to identify children’s needs. It should further highlight the role of local and regional governments in sustainable development and child friendly policy making. (+)
