Brazilian Mayors visit Barcelona’s mobility, solid waste treatment and technology experiences
On the last November 12th, UCLG joined a group of Brazilian mayors and public officers that visited Barcelona, in a technical visits’ day organized annually by the National Front of Mayors of Brazil (FNP), member of UCLG, gathering the cities of Aracaju, Cariacica, Curitiba, Guarulhos, Jaguariúna, Joao Pessoa, Niterói, Palmas, Porto Velho, Ribeirao Preto, Salvador, Sao José dos Campos e Sorocaba. Promoting a new approach to Sustainable Cities and Territories of Africa: UCLG gets ready for the Africities 8 Summit!
The 8th edition of the Africities Summit will take place between the 20 to 24 November in Marrakech, Morocco. With over 5000 participants, Africities is the United Cities and Local governments of Africa (UCLG-Africa, the African Regional Section of UCLG) flagship pan-African event that is held every three years in one of the five regions of Africa. In the framework of the Summit, UCLG will co-organize five sessions together with UCLG-Africa and CEMR-CCRE, with its committees on Culture and Social inclusion (CISDP) and in partnership with REFELA (Network of Local Elected Women of Africa), ICMPD (International Centre for Migration Policy Development) , UN-HABITAT, SIDA (Swedish International Development Agency), MC2CM (Mediterranean City-to-City Migration Project), Kingdom of Morocco, and Development Partners Network on Decentralisation and Local Governance (DeLoG), and EU Commission.  (+)
The World Forum on Urban Violence calls on cities to grow into their role as peacekeepers

The Second edition of the World Forum on Urban Violence and Education for Coexistence and Peace was held in Madrid, at the invitation of Mayor Manuela Carmena. United Cities and Local Governments was part of the organizing committee of the event, which gathered over 5000 participants from which around 400 were local and regional government officials from more than 35 different countries, as well as Nobel Peace laureates, and experts on peacebuilding from all the world, and served as a frame of action to prevent and transform conflicts and reduce urban violence.
