The Governor of Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, becomes chair of the 2022 Urban 20 (U20) cycle, following the G20 Presidency handover from the Republic of Italy to the Republic of Indonesia. Ridwan Kamil, the Governor of West Java (Jawa Barat) will join Governor Baswedan as co-chair of the 2022 U20 Mayors Summit. (+)

At the UCLG Community of Practice of Digital Cities, which is chaired by the City of Bilbao, they have been working during the past months in the elaboration of the fourth edition of the “SMART CITIES SUDY 2021” which was officially presented during the World Congress held in November in Barcelona. Exchanges on local government financing mechanisms and information systems in West Africa
From 11 to 14 October 2021, a regional workshop was held in Cotonou, Benin, to discuss the financing mechanisms of local and regional governments in West Africa. Organised by the National Commission on Local Finance - CONAFIL of Benin, with the support of the GIZ regional project on decentralisation in West Africa, in collaboration with UCLG Africa, UCLG and UNCDF, the event brought together some sixty participants from 8 countries in the region.
