BT Global Summit
The BT Global City Leaders Summit began on Wednesday 18th with more than 200 city and regional leaders of local governments from around the world – United Cities and Local Governments members and leaders – who were gathered in Liverpool’s to discuss how they can generate sustainable economic growth in times of austerity.

Planning and Public Spaces Durban
UCLG held its first Policy Debate session on 17th June 2014, dedicated to a crosscutting theme of UCLG's global agenda: Planning and Public Spaces. Participants joined this meeting to analyse two dimensions of the urban agenda.

Bilbao, Host City for the First UCLG 2015 Culture Summit
Bilbao has been chosen host city for the first UCLG 2015 Culture Summit during the meeting of the UCLG Executive Bureau held in Liverpool. The UCLG Committee on Culture began the draft of the new Culture Agenda 21 in 2013 in Lille, Buenos Aires and Rabat, and will continue in 2014 through meetings, seminars, articules, questionaires and visits to the pilot cities.

The United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) Executive Bureau is scheduled to take place in Liverpool, the United Kingdom from 17th – 19th June 2014 by invitation from the Mayor of Liverpool, Mr. Joe Anderson and the Local Governments Association (LGA) on the occasion of the International Festival of Business.
 2013 UCLG Annual Report
UCLG presented its Annual Activity Report for the period 2013 at the meeting of the Executive Bureau in Liverpool on 19th June 2014. The Report compiles all the activities carried out by the World Organization during 2013 and aims to present the work accomplished by the Sections of our global network.
First EU Policy Forum on Development
Following a meeting of the Task Team (made up of representatives of UCLG Africa, UCLG MEWA, FLACMA, Platform and the UCLG World Secretariat) on the 24th of June, the EU Policy Forum on Development (PFD) in the Latin America and the Caribbean region was held in Lima, Peru, on 25-26th of June.

Public Services International
UCLG World Secretariat received in May a delegation from Public Services International (PSI), the global trade union that represents public service workers. The aim of the meeting was to seek areas of common interest.

On the 16th of June 2014, a successful training for the UCLG Champions was held by the CIB Working Group in Liverpool, United Kingdom. Its purpose was to discuss the progress in activities undertaken by the Champions to promote the key messages of the UCLG Policy Paper.

21 European cities proposed in the Bloomberg Mayors Challenge
Citiscope’s urban innovation feature this week is on the “ideas camp” for European cities hosted recently by Bloomberg Philanthropies in Berlin. The 21 cities are finalists in the most recent round of the Bloomberg Mayors Challenge.
Between 10th and 12th June, the Cities Forum, which is linked to UCLG and other institutions, took place at IFEMA, Madrid. The forum was attended by Mayors and Managers of Ibero-American cities, present to discuss issues such as sustainability, service management, public space and governance, among others.
Post-2015 Urban Agenda
A new tool has been produced for local and regional governments to contribute to the post-2015 Agenda and the New Urban Agenda of Habitat III in 2016. It is the creation of UCLG, the Global Network of Cities, Local and Regional Governments, an organisation that represents the interests of local governments on the world stage.
