Julio Pereyra elected President of FLACMA

The new President of FLACMA thanked the members of the organization and stressed the importance of Latin American municipalism.

Julio Pereyra, Chair of the Argentina Federation of Municipalities (FAM) and Mayor of Florencio Varela, was unanimously elected as President of the Latin-American Federation of Cities, Municipalities and Local Government Associations (FLACMA) in a meeting held in Mar del Plata.

In his acceptance speech, Mayor Pereyra thanked the members of the organization and stressed the importance of Latin American municipalism, saying "We will relaunch FLACMA to work towards continued growth in each of our countries. We know how important the contribution of local governments is to the design of strategic policies to improve the quality of life of all people of Latin America".

The Executive Bureau of FLACMA brought together representatives from the continent: Juan de los Santos, FEDOMU Dominicana, Rolando Ortiz, Puerto Rico; Iban Granda, Cuenca Ecuador; Dino Palacios, ABM Bolivia; Luis Lázaro Sorvo, Perfecto de Nova; Olimpia, Vice CNM Brasil; Jorge Herrera, Amupa Panamá, Gustavo Baroja, Prefecto de Pinchincha Ecuador.

The meeting was held within the framework of the Latin American Summit of Cities and Local Governments 2015, taking place tomorrow in the city of Mar del Plata.
