Intensified cooperation crucial to respond to water local crisis around the world
World Water Day, Water - 21/03/2018
The 8th edition World Water Forum, the world largest event on water in the world, is taking place in Brasilia from 18 to 23 March, gathering a high number of delegates involved on the water and sanitation management at all levels. The mission of this year’s edition is to promote awareness, build political commitment and trigger action on critical water issues at all levels especially considering the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6. We deeply regret the loss of a black political representative, professor of sociology, activist for Human Rights, an energetic woman, who spoke up for minorities rights and represented the women’s voice with great spirit in Rio de Janeiro. From 5th to 7th March 2018 the CitiesIPCC Cities and Climate Change Conference took place in Edmonton, Canada. The three days conference brought together scientists, policy makers and practitioners to inspire the next frontier of research to advance the global understanding of climate change. (+)
GOLD, GOLD V - 12/03/2018
The Global Observatory on Decentralization and Local Democracy (GOLD) is launching, from March to the end of April 2018, a series of consultations on the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). GOLD addressed a survey to local and regional governments, associations, civil society and the private and academic sectors to identify the most significant data on the localization of the SDGs throughout the world and the role of local and regional governments. The information obtained will be essential to develop a report that highlights the contribution of local and regional authorities in localizing the SDGs. The report will be presented at the 2018 HLPF next July. (+)
